| HUNTED MATE: Tara quietly pulled open the silverware drawer and grabbed a large butcher knife. If it was another shapeshifter, she would have to defend herself the best way she could. She'd seen what it took to beat that last shifter unconscious. If Logan hadn't been the better opponent, the battle would have turned out different. It made her realize just how strong shifters were, even in their human forms. She debated on waiting for the intruder to come to her, or for her to go out and meet him. She clutched the knife tighter in her sweaty palm as she heard the footsteps approach the kitchen. Logan, where are you? I need you. The swinging doors to the kitchen slowly moved apart and Tara braced herself against the counter, raising the knife high in a defensive stance. Logan walked into the room. She was never more relieved to see his handsome face! She dropped the knife on the counter and then --- without even considering the consequences --- she ran into his arms. Logan caught her up in his arms with a harsh groan tearing from him. He hadn't expected her to react that way, and he wasn't prepared for what it did to him. He'd spent the last couple of hours roaming the woods in his lion form, determined to run the relentless need raging inside him out of his system. He'd run for miles, trying desperately to keep his thoughts in cat form. When exhaustion finally made him slow down and he realized just how far he was from the cabin, he'd reluctantly turned around and came back. ********** TEMPTATION UNLEASHED "So beautiful," he murmured hoarsely, "You take my breath away, little witch." Kira's heart fluttered at his unintended endearment. The rough rasp of his voice as he said little witch sent flutters of desire racing over every part of her, inside and out. Aiden's eyes blazed, his breathing harsh, as he slowly lowered his body down to cover hers. Her heart beat so hard she thought it might burst her chest. Not in fear, but in anticipation. His bare skin hotly covered ever inch of hers, and Kira felt as if she couldn't catch her breath. Aiden grinned knowingly. "Breathe, sweetheart. Now isn't the time to be fainting on me." "Fainting is the last thing on my mind," she countered. ************ |
